I just installed a clean copy of 4.5.0 CP (on 64bit Centos 5) and imported my 3.7.1 repository. I noticed that on any of my report schedules that I have multiple email recipients I am unable to make changes to those schedules. As soon as I submit the changes I get the following error:

"The server has encountered an error. Please excuse the inconvenience. An error has occurred. Please contact your system administrator. (5321)"

I also get this error if I try to create a new schedule to multiple email recipients. If I leave only one email address in the To field, it will save the schedule just fine. I am separating the email addresses with commas just as I always have. Here is what jasperserver.log shows pertaining to this:

"Invalid input: context=toAddresses-ViewRepository_Schedule_OutputSettings_context, type(Email)=^[p{L}p{M}p{N}._%'-]+@[p{L}p{M}p{N}.-]+.[a-zA-Z]{2,4}$, input=testa@gmail.com,testb@gmail.com
        at org.owasp.esapi.reference.validation.StringValidationRule.checkWhitelist(StringValidationRule.java:144)"

Is this a bug or did the address delimiter change? I've been wrestling with this upgrade all afternoon (fixing other report compatability issues) and this is the last one to address so I can move us to the new version. Please help!

Thanks!

After upgrading from Jasperserver 3.7.1 to 4.5 we noticed that now report output files from scheduled reports (PDFs, Excel files, etc) can no longer be opened by users who have read only rights to them. Now if I want the user to be able to download/open the pdf file I have to give them at least read+write+delete rights. This is obvously not ideal as I do NOT want them to be able to delete these stored report files.

Is this a bug or am I missing some other permission setting that will allow read only users to download these files from the repository?

A Security Worry

Whilst going through the source for JasperReports Server 4.2.1 Community Edition, I noticed that the key for storing passwords is in the configuration -- it doesn't seem like it's dynamic (i.e. set at install). This means that the key (which should be secret) appears to be in all the downloads of JasperReports Server 4.2.1, and is common across all installs.

If I'm right, it would mean that any one who has access to the JasperServer database would have easy access to all of the passwords in that database (e.g. through SQL injection of the JasperServer web interface, poorly configured database security settings, database password leak etc.).

While I understand that this is necessary for the JDBC connections, I think it is a little worrisome for user's passwords.

I think it would be better to allow users to easily set their key, or have one randomly generated at install time (and store it outside of the database, e.g. a file on disk) and have their passwords encrypted with that new key.

I have already sent an email to the support address, but got back what appeared to be mostly marketting. If someone more in the know could confirm or deny this, I'd be grateful.

Issues after upgrade to 4.5.0

Hi,

I recently upgraded to 4.5.0 (from 4.0.0) and I found two issues that 4.0.0 didn't have:

I schedule some reports. For many of them I have a schedule which mails the reports at a specific time. For those I set the option to skip empty reports. Now after the upgrade to 4.5.0 I get some empty reports via email. Before, 4.0.0 skipped those.

The second one requires a bit more explanation:
We use an external program on our clients that directly opens Internet Explorer with a URL as parameter to open a specific report as PDF. Before this worked without a problem.
Here are the details:
This is the URL that IE opens:
http://jasperserver:8080/jasperserver/flow.html?_flowId=viewReportFlow&reportUnit=/deparmtent/report&j_username=xxx&j_password=xxx&decorate=no&articleno=378402640010&company=xxx&sparepart=0&output=pdf

With that one, I get the error that I attached as file.
The problem relates to the article number. When I have an article number that is not a number (e.g. 4668.01.64.0000) then it works without a problem.
The second weird thing is that when I run the report from the webinterface manually with e.g ' 378402640010' the report runs without problems.
I already tried setting the article number in ' or " but that also doesn't work.

I have a report with a Chart.

There aren't any problems with exporting into HTML, PDF, RTF, i.e. JasperServer (v. 4.2.1 and v. 4.5) generates a report correctly.

But when I export the report into Excel, the output file doesn't have an image which relates to the appropriate Chart.

Is this behaviour a bug or should I do anything with options of JasperServer?

Greetings.

Upon exprorting a report to either XLSX or Excel various java numerical types (BigDecimal, integer, double, float, number) are converted to "text" on export. Apparently adding the following line

net.sf.jasperreports.export.xls.detect.cell.type=true

to the file

apache-tomcat/webapps/jasperserver/WEB-INF/classes/jasperreports.properties

should fix the problem. But it hasn't , and yes I restarted the jasperserver after making the change.

out setup.

jasperserver 4.1.0 , linux.

Any ideas?
