Install Using the WAR File Distribution Zip

JasperServer runs on Mac OSX.

There is a section in the wiki which describes installing from the WAR File Distribution. This will support installation on the Mac.

What Will I Need to Install on My Mac?

JasperServer needs an application server, a database, and Java to run. You will need to download and install these on your Mac. For simplicity, we recommend these applications:

• Tomcat Application Server
• MySQL Database
• Sun Java (1.5 or 1.6, JRE or JDK)

Where Do I Find the Components Mentioned Above?

MySQL supports binary downloads/installation for Mac OSX:

• http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html#downloads
• Look for:
  • Mac OSX (package format)
  • Mac OSX (TAR packages)

For Java, Sun supports binary downloads/installation for Mac OSX:

• http://developer.apple.com/java/download/ (or)
• http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Tomcat runs on top of Java so it is platform neutral. Just download and install a current Tomcat version:

• http://tomcat.apache.org/download-60.cgi (zip or tar.gz)

Can't I Use an Installer?

Unfortunately, there is not a binary installer for Mac OSX at this time.
